Kirby Risk
Eubanks Electrical Wire Harness Cut Machine Control

This application was developed specifically for a customer who needed to control the entire wire cut and strip process on a Eubanks brand machine, with a direct interface to backend engineering databases containing detailed wire specifications. A single 486-based PC is connected to the Eubanks machine via standard serial (RS-232) interface, sending commands and receiving responses and progress data from the Eubanks machine. The operator interface provides complete instructions on loading and preparing each wire, setting stamping attachments, and more, and automatically counts each wire as it is cut. A "wire cut counter" can be turned on to record to a backend database the start and stop time, date, user, and complete wire detail at all times, providing a comprehensive management reporting mechanism for analyzing machine productivity by operator, by shift, by the hour, and more. Comprehensive audit reporting and error trapping is included.

The original application was developed by Scott Blocher more than 6 years ago and continues in use today, controlling four machines. If your needs include interfacing your Eubanks or other wire cut and strip equipment to a backend database, or you need a tighter interface for running you wire cutting equipment, we may be able to help.
